The only reliable method for hunting in this game is to set up in a vantage spot, use all your lures/calls, load up reddit on your phone and hope some animals wander out into the firing line. I just noticed I've been saying crouch 'walk', and there's actually 2 speeds for crouching in this game and I play on controller so I don't really see when you'd ever crouch walk over crouch run because crouchwalking has next to no advantages over proning. By the time I've crouchwalked into a reasonable position, the herd has moved on to a feed zone on the other side of the map. I've never seen a group actually go there, nor have I see a group stay for any significant amount of time. I see these feed zones, etc all over the map but I'm pretty sure they're just spawn locations. This is dumb because the animals in this game are fitness buffs and hate inertia. This means that from the moment you leave the outpost to the moment you are returning, you have to crouch walk EVERYWHERE. It has the same noise and visibility debuffs as sprinting but it's slower. Fair but considering quickly the animals will detect you, you can NEVER sprint, if you EVER want to be hunting on the off chance that an animal is nearby. Secondly, 'sprinting' after an animal will never allow you to ever catch up to it. This is really slow compared to even a normal persons jog. Firstly, the fastest movement you can get (without sending more money to the devs) is by 'sprinting'.
